BCCI Officials To Leave For T20 World Cup Preparations On Friday
The venue of the T20 World Cup has been changed due to the growing cases of Covid-19 in India. The BCCI was forced to push the tournament outside India, considering the safety of the players and the staff involved. It was moved to the UAE and Oman quite recently. With that being said, though the venue of the tournament was changed, the BCCI is still in charge of hosting it.
They will still be liable for the tournament and its conduction, even though the venue is not in India. In short, the tournament will be hosted in the Middle East on behalf of the BCCI. Keeping that in mind, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India had to make arrangements for the T20 World Cup.
As the BCCI is the governing body and the official host of the T20 World Cup, the officials have to be present at the venue. They will need to get things done in order to prepare for the upcoming tournament. Further, there is an IPL 2021 second phase that has to be held in the UAE in September as well.
With that being said, a lot of arrangements need to be made. Due to this, the BCCI officials will be leaving for the UAE and Oman on Friday. This was confirmed quite recently by a source.
The statement said, “We are going to Oman tomorrow, we will be visiting the venue. We will also discuss the travel plans of teams, with the qualifiers that are to be held there (Oman). The day after the BCCI officials will then be in Dubai to meet with the ICC officials. The ECB officials will also be there.”
“We do not want to leave any stone unturned due to the Covid-19 pandemic. That is why everything will be taken care of. Bio bubble, training, accommodation are some issues that need to be discussed. We will also discuss whether the media will be allowed or not.”
Well, things could get quite interesting with regards to the T20 World Cup. There may be some restrictions and norms in place, depending on the Covid-19 situation. Further, updates will be given by the BCCI and the sources in the days to come.
