Inter Miami Vs Nashville Ends With A Draw - What To Know Now

It was the first time when the Inter Miami team scored zero after Messi’s arrival. And it was Nashville who stopped Inter Mimi to have a victory over it. The football match of Inter Miami vs Nashville ended with a draw.

Since Lionel Messi joined the team, Inter Miami could not score for the first time. And the team played the match without making a score against Nashville. It was the first time in his Inter Miami tenure when Lionel Messi was away from the score sheet and failed to take advantage of two free kick attempts while playing a Major League Soccer match at home. In spite of a scoreless match, Inter Miami got a point in the standings due to its late season playoff push. At the time of their entry into the game, Inter Miami had 11 points and needed more points to move to the 9th place from the 14th one.

Messi’s addition brought an instant boost for the team. And due to which, Inter Miami had victories in its previous nine matches. Lionel Messi scored 11 goals in those matches. Despite success, Tata Martino, Inter Miami coach, said that the team is still working together as it underwent several changes in the last two months.

In June 2023, Inter Miami fired Phil Neville and took Martino in. The team had the worst record of the 15 Eastern Conference teams at the time. However, it was Messi who made the team win all seven Leagues Cup matches along with the semifinal match of the US Open Cup. After Messi’s arrival, Inter Miami brought Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, his previous Barcelona teammates.

On a scoreless match and without title, Tata Martino, the team coach, said, “We really haven't had a full week working with this team. Even with the evolution of this team through Leagues Cup and Open Cup, the fact that we play every four days hasn't allowed us the enough time, the necessary time, to train and continue building this group. But what we've been able to do is correct through videos and see the improvements through the games”. Further, he added, “It is true that we were a bit unaccustomed to this. The titles, the final, with a league game won the other day in New York, but we must move forward”.

After two victories over New York Red Bulls in the sixtieth minute, Lionel Messi began playing the game with Busquets on Wednesday. In the first sixty minutes, Messi had no opportunities to score as the team struggled a lot to defend itself from Nashville’s shots/attacks. After drawing foul on Dax McCarty, Messi got a free kick. But Elliot Panicco stopped Messi’s shot from the bottom-left corner. The fans of Inter Miami took out their smartphones to capture free kick moments, but they had to keep their phones back without any visuals.

In the 69th minute, Hany Mukhtar of Nashville had a goal that was erased by an official call. Lionel Messi got another chance in the 83rd minute, but made no score due to having a ball bounce on the defenders’ wall. Kamal Miller, a teammate of Inter Miami, said, “They sat back with nine, 10 guys at a time. Pretty frustrating, but we have to get used to it. That's probably what most teams are going to do against us now”.

Further, Miller said, “It's really the first time a team did that to us so blatantly. We're going to look back at the film, and I'm sure the coaching staff is going to come up with ways for us to break the other team down. I think the basic answer is just moving the ball faster”. To defend his team, Tata Martino, the team coach, said, “I think when you put many players close to your own goal, normally you're going to have a good chance at keeping a clean sheet”.
