Will BJP Win The 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections?
The Covid pandemic has affected everyone across the world. It has also affected public opinion and the polls. Therefore, people are eager for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election results to see if there has been a decline in the popularity of the Bhartiya Janata Party and its leaders. Will there be a change, or will Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) win again? What does the Uttar Pradesh election survey say? Many thought that the Covid pandemic might have led to a decline in the popularity of the BJP and its leaders. However, is it true?
Recently, VETO conducted an opinion survey for Times Now Navbharat to make 2022 election predictions. The survey result was surprising and showed that BJP will have a comfortable return to power. According to the survey, out of 403 seats, BJP is likely to win somewhere between 230 and 249 seats. This will be followed by the Samajwadi Party (SP) led by Akhilesh Yadav, who will likely win between 137 to 152 seats. This opinion poll is extremely interesting because it shows how people continue to have faith in BJP and its leaders despite the Covid pandemic.
When it comes to the favourite candidate in Uttar Pradesh, almost 52% of the respondents favoured Yogi Adityanath, while 32% of the respondents found Akhilesh Yadav as a suitable candidate. Mayawati received 13% of responses in her favour, and Priyanka Gandhi received 2.2% in her favour. Finally, 08 of the respondents chose “other” as their response. Hence, it is evident that Yogi Adityanath still might get a lot of favourable votes. Moreover, almost 51% of the respondents say that they were happy with the work of Yogi Adityanath during his chief ministerial term.
The Lakhimpur Kheri Incident And Covid-19 Pandemic
The Lakhimpur incident happened after a car owned by the son of a minister ran over protesting farmers and four farmers lost their lives. The incident was expected to give a negative image to BJP. So, when questioned about the Lakhimpur incident, 55% of the respondents said that it has tarnished BJPs image. Similarly, when asked about the Covid pandemic and the response of BJP towards tackling it in Uttar Pradesh, 73% agreed that their popularity had declined after the second wave. On the contrary, 47% of the respondents believe that the law and order situation has improved in Uttar Pradesh under Yogi Adityanath’s leadership.
The survey mainly suggests that Bhartiya Janata Party might come back to power after the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Uttar Pradesh will starting voting from 10th February and the results will be out on 10th March 2022.
