Mumbai Drug Bust Case: NCB Seeks SRK’s Son Aryan Khan’s Judicial Custody
Bollywood and drug-related cases go hand-in-hand. After the Sushant Singh Rajput drug controversy, which involved the name of Rhea Chakraborty, among others, now Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan has come under the radar of the Narcotics Control Bureau. The NCB-Aryan Khan controversy started after the drug department conducted a raid at a rave party on a luxury cruise liner off the coast of Mumbai that was heading towards Goa.
The NCB Raid
On Sunday, during the high profile raid, the Narcotics Control Bureau recovered 21 grams of charas, 5 grams of MD, 22 pills of MDMA and 13 grams of cocaine, as reported by the NCB officials. Along with Aryan Khan, 7 others, including Arbaaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha, Nupur Sarika, Mohak Jaswal, Ishmeet Singh, Vikrant Chhoker, and Gomit Chopra, have also been arrested by the NCB.
On Sunday evening, following the raid, the 23-year old Aryan Khan was produced in the court and NCB was granted custody of those arrested till Monday. As per the sources, the NCB officials boarded the cruise liner ship as passengers on Saturday morning, and according to them, the rave party started right after the ship left Mumbai. The high profile raid began at 10 am and went on till 2 pm. During the raid, all suspects were searched by the NCB officials and different kinds of drugs were recovered from them, which they had hidden in their purses, clothes and undergarments, as reported by an NCB official.

On Monday afternoon, Aryan Khan was produced in Bombay High Court and was represented by lawyer Satish Maneshinde. The NCB has charged Aryan Khan for allegedly purchasing, possessing and selling banned substances in the country. However, Mr Maneshinde argued in the court against the detention of Aryan Khan and said: “Aryan had no ticket, no cabin or seat onboard the cruise. He was there because he had been invited. He didn’t even have a boarding pass. Nothing has been found on him. He was arrested on the basis of chat only. They found something on his friend Arbaaz merchant. They found 6 gm, which is a small quantity. The other seizures were not from any of them and with whom he has no connections,”
Meanwhile, the accused Aryan Khan, while asking for bail, said: “One of the grounds for asking my custody is the seizure of commercial quantity from other accused. Commercial quantity seized from other accused cannot be foisted on me. They are talking about international drug trafficking, which is a very serious charge and has to be backed by evidence. WhatsApp chat without any recovery is not of significance… in several cases learned judges have granted bail and not tagged entire seizure,”
NCB Seeks Judicial Custody Of Aryan Khan
The Narcotics Control Bureau told the Bombay High Court that Aryan Khan has to stay in custody for a more extended period so that the drug department can question him. The agency has asked the court to give them the judicial custody of Aryan Khan till 11th October. Speaking about the same, the agency told the High Court: “Unless we investigate the consumer, how do we know who is the supplier, who is financing it?” The agency also said that there is an international cartel involved in this case, to which the Bombay High Court noted that all offences under NDPS are non-bailable. Meanwhile, there have been reports of Aryan Khan crying inconsolably during the NCB interrogation and also revealed that he has been regularly consuming drugs for almost 4 years.
