Twitter Suspends Kangana Ranaut’s Account Permanently
After female actor, Kangana Ranaut posted a series of tweets in reaction to the recent win of All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) at the West Bengal Assembly Elections, Twitter has permanently suspended Ranaut’s Twitter account.
The social networking company’s spokesperson, in a statement, said, “We’ve been clear that we will take strong enforcement action on behaviour that has the potential to lead to offline harm. The referenced account has been permanently suspended for repeated violations of Twitter Rules, specifically our Hateful Conduct policy and Abusive Behaviour policy. We enforce the Twitter Rules judiciously and impartially for everyone on our service. This is not the first time that Kangana has faced the wrath of Twitter; the social media site imposed certain restrictions on Ranaut’s account after she posted a derogatory tweet against the makers of the Amazon Prime Video series, Tandav. The tweet read: ‘Time to take (the makers’) heads off for hurting religious sentiments,”
The war between Kangana and Twitter goes back to 2020 when Twitter suspended the account of Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel for allegedly spreading hate via her controversial tweets.
Apart from her films, Kangana keeps grabbing headlines for her no-filter, outrageous and controversial posts on various social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter.
What Does Kangana Have To Say About Twitter’s Action?
Kangana, in a statement, gave her reaction on Twitter permanently banning her account: “Twitter has only proved my point they are Americans, and by birth, a white person feels entitled to enslave a brown person, they want to tell you what to think, speak or do, fortunately, I have many platforms I can use to raise my voice including my own art in the form of cinema, but my heart goes out to the people of this nation who have been tortured, enslaved and censored for thousands of years and still there is no end to the suffering,”
The female actor joined Twitter in August 2020 and had 3 million followers before her verified account got suspended. Her Twitter bio read: “Artist, Recipient of Padmashri, Four national awards winner, highest-grossing female-centric films, Bidding Filmmaker, Wannabe environmentalist.”
When Does Twitter Suspend An Account?
As per Twitter’s policy page, the permanent suspension is the most severe action the company takes against an account holder. It also blocks the account holder from creating new accounts. Twitter notifies the account holder that why they have suspended the account and which policy they have violated.
As the permanent suspension of Twitter account is the harshest punishment, Twitter lets the violators appeal to Twitter’s support page. If the suspension is found to be for valid reasons, the support team of Twitter will reach out to the violators with all the policy details.
Recently, Twitter also suspended the account of the former president of The United States, Donald Trump.
