The Wait Is Over Now; Election Commission Announced Gujarat Election Schedule

After delaying for some time, the Election Commission finally announced that the Gujarat poll schedule for upcoming Gujarat Assembly Elections. According to reports, the commission announced that the polls would be concluded in two phases on December 1 and December 5. The voting for which would be done on December 8. The advancements come completely after a month as in last month, the EC announced the poll schedule for the Himachal Pradesh and skipped to comment on the issue of Gujarat. Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that in 2017, too, the election schedule for the two states was declared separately.

With the announcement of the poll schedule, a model code of conduct will come into force and will remain until the declaration of the result. As of now, parties are campaigning rigorously for the Himachal polls, and with the declaration of the Gujarat Election schedule, they would direct their attention to the state as well.

Delhi Government Announces Rs 5,000 Financial Aid To Construction Workers

Amid the ban on all forms of construction and demolition-related activities in the state capital, the Delhi government, on Wednesday, announced Rs 5,000 financial aid to over 10,000 registered construction workers. The announcement is a support measure for those workers who would be impacted due to the ongoing ban.

As per the reports, the financial aid announced by Delhi Chief Minister will be deposited directly in the bank accounts of registered workers with the government portal. Furthermore, the Chief Minister stated that funds for the financial assistance would be managed through the cess collected by the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board from construction projects.

Currently, the national capital is struggling with air pollution, as the AQI level has continued to remain in the “very poor” category for the last few days. Thus, to prevent the surge, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), on October 29, declared a blanket ban on all forms of construction and demolition-related activities in Delhi-NCR.

Meanwhile, the BJP-led Centre blamed the Punjab government’s failure to curb stubble burning in the state. Every year, stubble burning significantly contributes to turning Delhi into a “gas chamber”. Countering the accusations, AAP leaders accused the central government of not supporting welfare measures to prevent stubble burning in the state.

Oppositions Parties Likely To Join Hands Together For The Removal Of TN Governor

Asking for support to remove Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) called on Opposition parties to sign the joint memorandum in the name of honourable President Droupadi Murmu.

In a letter to Opposition Parties, DMK MP TS Balu on Wednesday urged the like-minded outfits to unite together to preserve the Centre’s efforts of Aryanification of Tamil Nadu state. Supporting this consideration, the Congress party has openly accepted the proposal and extended its support. 

Accepting the proposal, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh in an interview with The Hindu, said, “Governors who abide by their constitutional role are now an extinct species. Each one appointed since 2014 has been a grace and has danced to the tune of hum do even before that tune has been played“.

Notably, over the last few months, many instances happened where state governments emerged to question the viability of the Governor’s constitutional role in state affairs. Moreover, the tussle between AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Lt Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena, DMK vs RN Ravi and Kerala CM vs Governor Arif Mohammad has become a dedicated section of news headlines.
