Covid Bulletin: India’s Active Covid-19 Infections fall Below The Mark Of 1 Lakh
According to the data released by the union health ministry, India has recorded 86,498 covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours. The daily tally of covid-19 infections in the country has fallen below the mark of 1 lakh for the first time in over 2 months. India reported 2123 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 3,51,309. The total number of recoveries in the country stands at 2,73,41,462.
PM Modi: Centre To Provide Free Vaccines To The States
In his nationwide address yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that from 21st June, the central government would procure 75% of the vaccine doses from the vaccine manufacturers and provide them free of cost to all the states for the 18-44 age group. The remaining 25% can be procured directly by private hospitals. “The states will not have to spend a single penny for the vaccines,” said Modi. The private hospitals can only charge up to INR 150 over the set price. Prime Minister Modi also announced that the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana has been extended till Diwali.
Mumbai To Receive Heavy Rainfall Says Met Department
The regional meteorological department on Monday issued a severe weather warning for the next five days. The Uddhav Thackeray government has asked the state administration to remain alert for emergencies in the wake of heavy rainfall forecast in Mumbai. The CMO office tweeted: “CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has directed the state administration to be alert as a 4-day heavy rainfall prediction has been issued for Mumbai & Konkan. The treatment of patients must not be affected &, if needed, shift citizens from vulnerable establishments to safer places,” The CM of Maharashtra has asked the administration to relocate people living in low-lying areas, landslide-prone areas and old buildings to a safe place.

Reportedly, Mehul Choksi has referred to Indian chief agents and high ranking Indian politician for alleged abduction. The Prime Minister of Antigua Gaston Brown said: “An abduction is a serious offence, and assuming the veracity of that claim, law enforcement and the executive would be very concerned. And so I said this requires vigilance and surveillance and to ensure we step up our security to protect our citizens and residents,” Choksi has named Barbara Jabarica, Indian men – Narendra Singh, Arminder Singh and Gurmit Singh for allegedly beating him and taking him on a boat to Dominica. Mr Mehul Choksi is wanted in India in connection to the PNB scam case.
Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid Elected As The New President For The 76th Session Of The UN General Assembly
Abdulla Shahid, the foreign minister of Maldives, was elected as the new president of the United Nations General Assembly for the 7th session. According to the vote count, 143 had voted in favour and 48 against with zero abstentions. An official source said: “While FM Rassoul also has strong credentials, by the time his candidature was announced, Maldives had already garnered extensive support. Moreover, Maldives has never held the office of PGA, while Afghanistan has held this post during the 21st GA session in 1966-67,”

Actor Pearl V Puri has been making headlines for allegedly raping and molesting a minor girl on the sets of his show. Many TV personalities, including Karishma Tanna, Anita Hanssandani and Ekta Kapoor, have come out in support of the actor. The latest to join is filmmaker and actor Divya Khosla Kumar saying that the girl’s father, who is fighting a custody battle with the girl’s mother, is using Pearl for his own benefit. Divya posted a photo with the actor and said: “Now the police have arrested Pearl … I want to know why the police did not arrest him in 2019 when this case was filed … the reason is that In the FIR filed, it was mentioned that the child was molested when she was with the mother. The battle between Salman Khan and Kamaal R Khan has retaken the front seat as the former has filed an application in a Mumbai court to take contempt action against the defamatory remarks made by Kamaal R Khan despite an undertaking not to do so. Salman filed the defamation suit seeking to refrain KRK from directly or indirectly making videos or any other content related to the actor, his films or his business ventures. The Board of Cricket Control in India has reportedly zeroed down on a date to resume IPL 2021, which was postponed indefinitely due to the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic. A BCCI official said: “The discussions went really well, and with ECB already giving us the oral nod to host the event ahead of the BCCI SGM, it was about closing the deal over the last week. The first game after the season resumes will be held on 19th September, while we will have the final on 15th October. The BCCI was always keen on a 25-day window to finish the remaining matches,”
