Muslim Organisations Call For Karnataka Bandh To Protest Against HC’s Order
On Thursday, several Muslim organisations in Karnataka has called for a ‘bandh’ to protest against the recent Hijab verdict of the Karnataka High Court. Calling for a Karnataka Bandh, the Ameer-E-Shariat of Karnataka, Maulana Sagir Ahmad Khan Rashadi, said: “Expressing our anger against the sad order of the Karnataka High Court regarding hijab, a state-wide bandh will be observed on Thursday,” He appealed to the entire Muslim community to support the bandh between 6 AM and 6 PM on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and the Campus Front of India (CFI) have also supported the Karnataka Bandh. For the unversed, Karnataka High Court recently pronounced its verdict over the Hijab ban. The High Court, in its order, said that the wearing of Hijab is not an essential religious practice under Islam and the uniform is a reasonable restriction that a student cannot object to. Meanwhile, two petitions have been filed against the High Court’s order in the Supreme Court. While the Top Court has considered the submission, it said that it would consider them after the Holi vacation.
Covid-Bulletin: India Records 2,539 New Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.73%
According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India has recorded 2,539 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 30,799. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber daily covid-19 cases with, registering 4,491 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries have reached to 4,24,54,546. The daily and weekly positivity rates currently stand at 0.35% and 0.42%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 78.12 crore covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 180.80 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

India-China Border Tensions: Chinese Foreign Minister May Visit India This Month
After the violent clashes between Indian forces and Chinese forces at the Line Of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, this would be the first visit by any Chinese leader on the Indian soil. As per reports, there is a possibility of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visiting India this month. Earlier, Mr Yi had said that China and India have encountered some setbacks in bilateral relations in recent years. “China and India relations have encountered some setbacks in recent years which do not serve the fundamental interests of the two countries and the two peoples,” said Mr Yi in a response to a question over the boundary issues with India. Meanwhile, India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had said at the Munich Security Conference (MSC) that India’s relations with China is currently going through a very difficult phase after Beijing violated border agreements. He added that the state of the border will determine the state of the relationship between the countries.

As per Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh, the film did a business of Rs 79.25 crore in just 6 days and is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in the first week only. The Vivek Agnihotri directed film has brought a Tsunami with all the other films like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Radhe Shyam and the Batman washing away from the box office.
