SpiceJet Scion To Government: Open Up The Manufacture And Procurement Of Vaccines To The Private Sector
The chief executive officer of SpiceHealth, Avani Singh, has urged the Indian government to open up the manufacture and procurement of vaccines to the private sector while maintaining that it is the only way for every citizen of a second-largest populous country can get fully vaccinated. In an interview last week, Singh said: “We are obviously moving at a much slower pace with vaccinations than we should be. If they let private players like labs and hospitals procure vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna and let private players make Covaxin more aggressively, we could significantly ramp up the administration and build up enough immunity to get out of this faster. Not allowing labs and hospitals to procure and facilitate vaccines is a huge untapped potential,” SpiceHealth was the first to set up mobile labs in the country that can be moved easily, and today, there are 15 such labs across five states which processes 3,000 samples a day.

While speaking to News18.com, Dilip Vengsarkar said: “What are they going to do in those one-and-a-half months? I am really surprised with the scheduling. What kind of a tour is being organised? How can you have a Test match now and you don’t have any cricket for one-and-a-half months, and then you play the Test series. This itinerary is weird. If there is no cricket for one-and-a-half months, it is strange. If India is there to play Test matches, they should continue playing Tests rather than have a gap,” Reportedly, Team India will land on 3rd June in England to face New Zealand in the World Test Championship final scheduled to begin from 18th June in Southampton. After the finals, team India will have to wait for 42 days before playing the first test against England from 4th August in Nottingham.’
