Covaxin’s Stock Gets Exhausted In Delhi With No Covaxin For 18 to 44-Year-Old; Limited Stock To Last For Only Four Days
The Delhi government, in a press conference, urged the union government to provide vaccine doses to the capital as Delhi faces a shortage of vaccines. While the limited stock of Covaxin will last for 4 days, Covishield will last nine days, said the Delhi government. From today, there will be no Covaxin available for the 18 to 44-year-old age group. Amid rising covid-19 cases, Delhi has entered the fourth week of lockdown. Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, said that the state government had to close more than 100 covid vaccination centres in 17 government schools due to a shortage of vaccines.

After DRDO Developed ‘Oxycare’ System; The Union Government Approves The Procurement Of 1, 50,000 Units For Rs 322.5 Crore
The central government has approved the procurement of 1.5 lakh units of the ‘Oxycare’ system developed by the Defence Research And Development Organisation (DRDO). The government will buy the units at the cost of Rs 322.5 crore from the PM-CARES Fund. The ministry, in a statement, said, “The Oxycare system delivers supplemental oxygen based on the SPO2 levels and prevents a person from sinking into a state of hypoxia which can be fatal. The system is indigenously developed for operation in field conditions and is robust. It can be effectively used to treat covid-19 patients.”

Covid Bulletin: Karnataka’s Daily Active Cases Crosses The 5 Lakh Mark, Highest In The Country’s Covid-19 List
After Karnataka recorded 5,92,182 active covid-19 cases, the state surpassed the neighbouring state, Maharashtra, to become the state with the highest number of covid-19 cases in the country. The highest number touched by Maharashtra was 6,99, 858 on 22nd April. Since daily recoveries continue to rise, Maharashtra saw a gradual reduction in new cases. Karnataka’s daily positive rate stands at 29.6%. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 30,94,48, 585 samples have been tested for covid-19 across the country.

Days After States Complain Of Vaccine Shortage; Serum Institute And Bharat Biotech Submits Their Production Plan To Ramp Up The Vaccination Process
Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech have submitted their production plan for the next four months to the central government in order to ensure an uninterrupted supply of vaccines across the country. Official sources said that both Serum Institue and Bharat Biotech have informed the centre that they can ramp up the production up to 10 crore and 7.8 crore doses by August, respectively. Several states, including Delhi, Karnataka and Maharashtra, have reported a shortage of covid-19 vaccine doses.
Indian-American Non-Profit Body, AIF Raises $25 Million To Provide Assistance To India In Its Fight Against Covid-19
American India Foundation (AIF), which was founded in the aftermath of the Gujurat earthquake at the initiative of the then USA president, Bill Clinton and the then Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, has come forward to help India amid its covid-19 crisis. The non-profit body has raised $25 million to provide assistance to India. The CEO of AIF, Nishant Pandey, said: “So far, we have ordered and have commitments for 5,500 oxygen concentrators, 2,300 hospital beds, 25 oxygen plants, and 30,000 non-electric ventilators,”
Working with the Govt. of India through the office of the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA), AIF is facilitating the construction of portable hospitals.

Indian Railways Delivers 6260 MT Of LMO To the Various States Across The Country; Completes Run Of 100 Oxygen Expresses In 20 Days
The Indian Railways has been working non-stop to ensure an uninterrupted supply of oxygen across the country. Through the Roll on-Roll Off service of freight trains – Oxygen Express, the Indian Railways have been undertaking long-distance transport of LMO Tankers. Out of the 6260 MT of LMO delivered, 360 MT to Madhya Pradesh, 939 MT in Haryana, 407 MT in Maharashtra, 123 MT in Telangana, 40 MT in Rajasthan,1680 MT in Uttar Pradesh, 120 MT in Karnataka and more than 2404 MT in Delhi have been offloaded.
