Uttar Pradesh Will Spend Over $1.36 Billion To Buy Covid-19 Vaccine Shots; In Talks With Pfizer And Sputnik V
Uttar Pradesh, having a population larger than Brazil, has decided to spend over $1.36 billion to buy covid-19 vaccine shots and held talks with vaccine companies such as Pfizer and Sputnik V, according to a state official. As part of the global tender to buy 40 million doses, the UP government also had pre-bid talks with Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech. Multiple states have released global tenders to procure covid-19 vaccine shots.
Extending The Gap Between Two Doses Of Covishield Is A Reasonable Approach Says White House Chief Medical Adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci
After the Indian government announced the extension of the gap between the first and second dose of the Covishield vaccine, White House chief medical advisor, Dr. Anthony Fauci, while appreciating the move, said: “You have to try and figure out ways to get as many people vaccinated as quickly as you can, so I believe that it is a reasonable approach to do so,” Earlier, the gap between two doses of Covishield was 6-8 weeks, which now has been increased to 12-16 weeks.
National Commission For Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Visits West Bengal To Inquire About The Post-Poll Violence In The State
After the West Bengal Assembly Election results, there had been videos and cases of post-poll violence in the state. To probe about the same, the head of the National Commission For Scheduled Castes, Vijay Sampla, is on a two-day visit to West Bengal. Though the state government had asked NCSC to cancel the visit given the pandemic, the panel chose to go ahead with their decision of visiting the state and inquire about the violence.
Covid Bulletin: India Sees A Dip In Active Cases; Total Vaccination Nearing The 18 Crore Mark
With 3,43,144 people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, according to the data released by the Union health ministry, India has seen a dip in covid-19 active cases. Nine states and UT, including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, Puducherry, Kerela, Odisha and Manipur, have seen an increase in daily covid-19 cases, whereas other states such as Goa, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir have seen a decline. The country has so far administered a cumulative of 17,92,98,584 covid-19 vaccine shots.

International Cooperation Continues To Flow In To Support India In Its Fight Against The Covid-19 Pandemic
International cooperation continues to pour in as Germany sent 223 ventilators, 2500 vials of Remdesevir and other medical equipments. 3000 vials of Remdesevir arrived from the Netherlands, and 5500 vials of Remdesevir from Portugal. Kazakhstan’s shipment arrived carrying over 5.6 million masks/respirators.
