Zelensky Calls For Meeting With Vladimir Putin To ‘End’ The War

On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Zelensky, in a news conference, said: “I think that whoever started this war will be able to end it,” He also added that he is not afraid to meet Putin if it would result in a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. “It’s not that I want (to meet him); it’s that I have to meet him so as to settle this conflict by diplomatic means. We have confidence in our partners, but we have no confidence in Russia,” the Ukrainian President further added. As the Russia-Ukraine war enters its third month, Russian soldiers continue to tighten their grip on Ukraine while the latter is putting every effort into countering Russian action. 

Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 2,541 New Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.75%

According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India has recorded 2,541 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 16,522. The daily and weekly positivity rates currently stand at 0.84% and 0.54%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 83.50 crore covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 187.71 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

PM Narendra Modi Conferred With The Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award In Mumbai

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award in Mumbai. After receiving the award, PM Modi remembered Late Lata Mangeshkar and said: “For me, Lata didi was like an elder sister. I have always received immense love from her. After many decades, Lata didi will not be present in the coming Rakhi festival.” The Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award has been constituted in the memory of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and would be presented every year to a person who has made an exemplary contribution towards nation-building. The Award ceremony was held on 24th April, which also marks the death anniversary of Master Deenanath Mangeshkar, singer Lata Mangeshkar’s father. Veteran actors Asha Parekh and Jackie Shroff received the Master Deenanath Puraskar (Special Honour) for their dedicated services in the field of cinema.

While Macron won with a good margin, a substantial chunk of voters were unwilling to vote for either Macron or Pen as the abstention rate was the highest since 1969.
