Tata Launches India’s Smallest Electric Car: Tiago EV

Tata motors, on Wednesday, launched the smallest electric car- the Tiago EV – in the Indian market. The all-electric hatchback has been introduced at a base price of Rs 8.49 lakh and will go up to a higher price range of Rs 11.79 lakh. These price tags are only ex-showroom tags. Thus the customers will have to pay a little more for taxes and insurance policies.

Battery Backup of Tiago Electric Version

Tata Tiago EV comes with two segments of battery packs. The smaller 19.2 kWh battery pack comes with a 3.3 kW AC charger while other variants have 24kWh battery pack with a 7.2 kW AC charger facility.

The 19.2 kWh battery pack is sufficient for a distance of around 250 km on a single charge, while the larger battery pack has been tested rigorously to offer a range of 315 km. Speaking about the vehicle’s torque, we can find that the vehicle can sprint from 0 to 60 kmph in just 5.7 seconds!

How Long Does It Take To Charge The Battery of Tiago Electric Version?

Tata motors claims that the 7.2 kW charger can fully charge the electric vehicle in 3 hours and 36 minutes, while the DC version can ionize the battery from 10% to 80% in 57 minutes.

Considering the features, we can find that the vehicle comes with a touchscreen infotainment system, electric ORVMs, cruise control, push-button start/stop, leatherette seats, auto headlamps and much more. 

Design Characteristics of Tata Tiago EV

The all-new Tiago EV comes with blue trim on the front grille, housing to surround the fog lamp, EV badging on the front fenders, and alloy wheels to enhance the vehicle’s efficiency. Additionally, the blue accents surround the AC vents of the electric vehicle.

Competitors of Tata Tiago EV

The competitive price and small size frame makes Tiago EV the best EV in the price range. Due to its highly advanced characteristics, currently, it has no direct competitors in the Indian market. However, Citroen also revealed that it will enter the Indian market with its C3 vehicle, a fully electric vehicle of a smaller size frame.
